City of London Architecture walk. 26th December 2019 11am - 12:30pm Get some festive fresh air on this Boxing day walk through the City of London. The City is the most ancient part of London but it is also home to some of the capital's newest and most exciting contemporary architecture. From a 17th century column and to an award winning 21st century building you will hear about the development of the City, stand at the feet of giants and hear about the flower that the planners wouldn't allow to bloom. Starts at Monument tube station and finishes close to Bank tube station. |
New Year's Eve - Sculpture in the City
31st December 2019 11am - 1pm Grab a bit of culture before welcoming in 2020! Discover that the modern City of London is not just about business and see the latest selection of contemporary sculptures on display in the City's skyscraper zone. Enjoy 21 extraordinary and thought-provoking works by 19 artists. This is your chance to visit and discover the stories behind each of the works that have been selected for Sculpture in the City 2019/20. The walk which lasts just under 2 hours starts outside Liverpool Street Station and meandering through the City's skyscraper zone where the selected contemporary sculptures nestle in the shadow of the City's most iconic modern buildings including the Gherkin, the Cheesegrater and the new 22, Bishopsgate - which is London's tallest building after the Shard. The walk ends close to Tower Hill and Bank tube stations and a short walk back to Liverpool St. |
