Once Upon a Time...
A free guided walk designed in partnership with Clerkenwell Design Week to enhance your visit to this annual showcase for Clerkenwell's designers (21st - 23rd May 2019). The walk highlights the area's colourful history and includes six locations featuring artworks which have been inspired by their history and have been created for Clerkenwell Design Week by students from UAL Chelsea College of Arts. Go to our Booking page to book your ticket.
Made in Clerkenwell
Clerkenwell today has more creative businesses per square mile than anywhere else on the planet but it also has a long history of crafts and manufacturing. Huguenot clockmakers, disabled artificial flower makers and brewers and gin distillers are just some of the makers whose stories and hard work have shaped this fascinating district.
Gangsters, Gelato & Garibaldi
Explore the colourful story of the Italian community in Clerkenwell and the area around Hatton Garden.
Discover organ grinders and fortune tellers, the exploits of gangster Darby Sabini and Carlo Gatti, the man who introduced ice cream to the masses. The walk ends outside the famous Terroni Italian Deli in Clerkenwell Road, where gelato and other Italian delicacies can be enjoyed.
